Activities for everyone

The area offers many types of activities for our guests. Here are some examples.

Culture

Hike to the Hermitage/Saint Etienne Chapel

With a hike from the village of about 1,5 hour, you can visit the small chapel on top of the mountain next to St. Nazaire.
From there you have a fantastic view of the whole area and, in the right weather conditions, you can even glimpse the peaks of the Pyrenees (186 miles away).

Recreation

Canoeing in the river

You choose from which village you want to start. In Roquebrun, you get your equipment and paddles, hop on the shuttle that takes you to your starting point where you are assigned a canoe and you start your journey at whatever pace you want. Take your time. Stop every now and then at the lovely spots of your choice and swim, have a coffee, eat your packed lunch or just enjoy yourself on your way back to Roquebrun.

Markets

Local markets

Visit the local village markets that are organized every week. They offer everything from fresh fruit & vegetables and charcuterie to clothes, jewelry and other goods. Have lunch from one of the food trucks set up at the market. Markets are organized regularly 1 day a week, while larger villages usually have theirs 2 times per week. The largest and most popular in the area is in Saint Chinian, 19 km from St. Nazaire de Ladarez.

Food & drink

Wine tasting

The area belongs to France’s largest and most important wine region. In addition to the opportunity to shop at incredibly low prices on site, there is also the possibility for Swedish residents to order wines sent to your home in Sweden so that you do not have to bring this with you on the trip back home.

Food & drink

Olive oil tasting

Like vineyards, olive groves are a major agricultural culture in the area. Visit local olive farms where you will have the opportunity to taste their different olive oils and get to know which oils are suitable for what, etc.
